Workshop Overview

Ontario’s labour market is being rocked by major influences including the evolution of A.I., a massive increase in immigration, an ongoing skills shortage and a looming recession. This year’s Ontario Labour Market Year-in-Review Workshop will provide practical insights into how jobs are changing; strategies for employers to consider in recruitment and retention; how A.I. and other automation will impact the labour force; and how to best advise students or job seekers in building an in-demand skills set. The following is a list of topics we will address in the workshop:

• 10 year occupation projections

• Local labour market analysis examining the growth of local jobs and industries

• BRAND NEW Census Data and recent research broken down for individuals with disabilities; new Canadians; women, youth and Indigenous Canadians

• The changing role of job development; how to become LMI subject matter experts

• How to share labour market analysis during a time of increased client or student volume

• Identifying occupations which are resilient during economic downturns

• Overview of key labour market research, reports and labour market tools released during 2023

​While we had originally planned for in-person and online workshops, in the end the vast majority chose online so we have one online workshop dedicated to Greater Toronto and another online session addressing all regions of Ontario including the GTA.
